Well Hello Monday!! The weekend never seems long enough, but were taking an extended weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary... so I guess I am pumped about it being the beginning of the week for my own selfish reasons:)
In just few short hours I will be sitting coast side enjoying the fresh ocean breeze WITH a freshly made mock-tail in my hand! I strongly encourage weekday getaways if you can swing it. Its a nice change of pace from the "normal" weekend getaway.
The big 3 is here! Wow, 3 years of marriage tomorrow and I really cant believe how fast it has flown by. We have definitely been busy and we all know that time flies when you are having fun. Another year in the books and forever to go!
Cake...yum
Because we generally have so much going on it was really easy for us to NOT do something or go anywhere to celebrate us. As parents, we usually take the easy route and say, "well do something another weekend, or lets just grab a quick bite instead". I mean, you can celebrate in any way you like, but I am content that we carved out some time for just us. Its absolutely necessary and its all part of family/work/life balance. Remember my balance post? I am super proud of myself because I really have been staying true to it as much as possible. Wanna know the best part? It feels REALLY good. We all know that when mama feels good the world is such a happier place for all:)
Ok, so who wants to know what color we selected for the Cabin?! So very exciting!!!!
I went with my first instinct and selected the TOP!!! Winter Solstice by Kelly Moore. I'll be honest, its not something I would normally pick because I kinda like to play it safe. I kept gravitating towards these dark, bold colors and I knew I could do it with this house( Left Photo is the inspiration). My vision behind this blue gray color was the deep contrast. I wanted that dynamic hue with a contrasting white trim and Pine accents. The original color of the home is a sage green and our home in the bay area is a green/gray. In discussions about paint, we knew that we wanted it to look different that our primary residence and something that we could have a little more fun with. I knew Winter Solstice was perfect when I looked at it in the fan deck, but sometimes those blue grays read purple ( like the middle color)I needed to see it in person to confirm. Once it was up, I was done, done-zo, thats it! I tend to be a quick draw with color. I don't sit on it for too long. I have the idea in my head, find the color, paint the swatch and then its done. Really excited to see this color go up and cannot wait to share the finished photo!!
That's all for today, the beach is calling my name! Stay tuned for more project updates.
Happy Designing!

Ash
