The answers you all want to know....

The days of thinking that hiring an Interior designer is only for the rich and famous are OVER! Wanna know the truth? I am about to blow your mind.

Believe it or not, hiring a designer is wise and sensible choice. Not only for the sake of your sanity, but the pure fact that we save you time and money. Here are 10 reasons why you should be consulting and/or hiring a designer for ANY type of home renovation project.

1. TIME

Your time is valuable and unless you are a full time designer yourself, it will be challenging to balance all aspects of a home renovation project on your own. I know your on Pinterest at work, when you should be writing that TPS report. We all know it and you know it.
Something is always getting put on the back burner while you search for the best deal on flooring, tile, counter-tops, furniture, lighting,etc.. Leave it to the professionals. We have sources that we go to quickly with the best prices, hence saving you the time and the money.

2. MONEY

This ties nicely into the time portion above. Time is money. I am referencing an article from Freshhome below because its hits the nail right on the head:

"Hiring a designer can help you avoid costly mistakes that not only help you save money, but can increase the value of your home."

Thinking about a flip or selling you current home for top dollar? Hiring a designer is essential. Not only do you get the professional guidance and eye, it can help boast buyer appeal and set your home above the competition.

3.. PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE

Ever wonder why designers charge consultations fees? This is why. People want/need professional guidance. Some just want an hour of your time so that they can have a jumping off point.  The majority want to save time, money and need a professional assessment of the total project. A designer can access the situation usually within 5-10 minutes of walking into the home. A game plan is then put into place on how to move forward in the most efficient way.

4. PROJECT MANAGER/LIAISON

Notice how these all ties nicely into one another? I swear I am not making this stuff up!

Many people don't know where to start when taking on a project. They usually hire and contractor and then expect the contractor to be the designer. Why not? HGTV shows it. Wrong. While having the right team is place is key, knowing each person's role is very important as well. Example: Contractor and designer work hand and hand to convey clients wants and needs into a reasonable project timeline and or schedule. Designer works with clients to make finish selections while the contractor approves that the finishes/design ideas are feasible. The working relationship is quite beautiful when executed correctly.  I know you all watch Fixer upper. Chip can't do it without Jo and Jo cant make it all come together without Chip. You feel me?

5. PLANNING/BUDGETING

Those that have hired designers in the past know how much work goes into a single project. Wouldn't it be nice to have a firm game plan and a target budget in mind??  In comes yours truly!!!

I am not just here to fluff pillows and give orders...no more to the left, no right.....ugh.

There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes in order to make a project successful. Planning and preparing a budget is HUGE. No one likes surprises and no one likes to be slapped with a huge bill. I know I personally like transparency up front, don't you?

6. RESOURCES

We have the resources you need. Hence again saving you time and money! Big box stores & wayfair are not the only answers. It is possible to get quality finishes at affordable prices through a designer. That's another incentive. We visit showrooms & markets sourcing and identifying the best products out there. Rely on us for your sourcing needs, it is part of our job! AND guess what?! It saves you time and money. We can source in about half the time it takes you to pinterest, then find the site, then realize the site is expensive, etc, etc. Time is ticking.

7. CONTACTS
So you cant do it all with an interior designer ONLY. Just like above Chip needs Jo and Jo needs Chip. Good thing we have contacts to help your project move along at the pace its suppose too. Whether you need a contractor, painter, electrician, you name it we generally have someone in our network or know someone that does.

8. CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

Now a days anyone that has an eye for design can call themselves a "designer". That's all good with me, but I am not going to discount the time and training I received from a four year collage. Its nice to know you have hired someone that has some back up. A trained eye and experience are key. Lack of either will surely replace the saving time and money portion.

9. HOME SALE
I have noted this briefly under the money portion above, but to elaborate, hiring a designer for the preparation of a home sale puts you in the lead before the home is listed. You want less time on the market? Increased foot traffic for open houses? AND most importantly more return on your investment? Whether you choose to hire a designer for consult or for cosmetic upgrades you are already ahead of the game.

10.THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX

We are trained to think differently, in fact I believe its engraved in our DNA. Crafting that wow factor that you may not have thought about is also an incentive to working with a designer. We think of things you generally don't and even things that your contractor and or architect doesn't think of. There are so many moving parts and its our job to make sure at the end, it all makes sense and is functional. Remember those pretty lamps you loved?! Its going to be hard to plug them in with no electrical outlets....did you think of that?!

Have I opened your eyes? Please share your thoughts and feedback with me here of on the gram. I'd love to here your experiences, good or bad...I am open to hearing it all.

Stay tuned for more project updates!

Happy Designing!

xo,
Ash
