On Trend...That Luxe Life:
When I hear the word "Luxe" I think luxury. I start to wander off thinking of Victorian homes with heavy ornamentation, glass knobs, brass hardware, and chandeliers.....
As I dive into this trend, I am training my brain to think differently because a luxury style can be very universal. So don't rush out to buy that crystal chandelier just yet.
Here are five ways to create a Luxe look for the modern, traditional and minimalist style:
1. Play up Pastels.
Prints create visual interest by drawing the eye in. Floral, abstract, animal & geometric prints are all great to work with. Work in solids, stripes, polka-dots or even plaids! Its not a "no-no" anymore, mix and match as you please. Less is more in this application as well. If your guests start to have migraines looking at all your printed pillows, its time to reel yourself in and re-group.
5. Be bold.

Here are five ways to create a Luxe look for the modern, traditional and minimalist style:
1. Play up Pastels.
Adding cool hues to a neutral sofa or chair is a great way to achieve this look. Accessorize in pale pinks, blush, nude, taupe, baby blues and celadon.
2. Add Metallic's.
Everyone needs a little glam in their lives! Metallic's are making a comeback! Pops of gold, brass & silver accessories are everywhere. 'Less is more', is a good rule to follow when designing with Metallic's. Think accent tables, small accessories, or a statement piece like the mirror above.
3. Create Texture.
Texture adds dimension to your space. Even if you prefer neutrals over colors, texture helps to break up the monotony. You can achieve texture by using accent pillows with raised patterns, or embroidery. Tactile items also add texture. Like a knit throw blanket and/or a nubby rug over flooring.
4. Use Prints.
5. Be bold.
Don't be afraid to use color! I generally preach the neutral route for large furniture items, but these photos are the exception to the rule. Take risks- you just might enjoy what you see!
