Well that was fast...
Its June already and our first wedding anniversary is just around the corner! As I look back and reminisce on this day, I smile. My heart is full.
I also look back and chuckle to myself. I am glad I can laugh now, because believe me, I almost lost my marbles the day before our big day. To share just a few of the shenanigans:

Day Before Wedding
- On our way to the venue we stopped to pick up the tuxedo's. We thought they were ready for pick up, until the groomsmen's tried them on. The slim fit suits that we ordered all came, "grandpa style" with baggy pants. After some exchanging of words and possibly some violent hand gestures, the pants situation was kind-of taken care of. To this day, my husband still hates his pants.
- During the pants party, my brother somehow switched his pants with my husband's pants. As we were on the road to the venue I got a frantic call stating, "we're turning around, I think I got the wrong pants." By then I needed a stiff drink.
- My mom got lost while driving out to the venue. Literally, we were on county roads in the middle of farm land. Oh, and she doesn't have navigation. Still needing that drink...
- Arrival to the venue was slated for 12 noon. We didn't arrive until 2 pm. My mom followed shortly after....
- It was about 85- 90 degrees when we arrived. I couldn't wait to get into the pool and cool off. If only that was an option. We unloaded all of our things for about 2 hours as our onsite coordinator went MIA.
- The grass was dead where we had planned to have the ceremony. The plan B ceremony spot (that I didn't have) was quickly addressed. I was still thirsty at this point!
- One of the venue owners asked me if I would like a Xanax. My husband proceeded to squeeze my hand gently, as he knew I was seconds away from choking the guy out.
- I never got to set a foot in the pool.
- I didn't even get to wash or do my hair for the rehearsal dinner.
- I was late to my own rehearsal dinner even though it was onsite, at the venue, where I had been all day.
To sum this up- I did finally get a nice cold cocktail at the rehearsal dinner!
Our wedding was everything we had hoped it would be. Yes, we had a few obstacles, but they were opportunities in disguise. We took everything in stride and the experience has contributed to the couple we are today.
To many more amazing years full of love and laughter!
xo,
Ash
